Movie Review on Star Wars the Force Awakens
Without doubt, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is supposed to be the most historic event of 2015. Although many critics were skeptical about the creation of the seventh episode of the most successful epic space opera film of all times, everyone was waiting for this movie. Many people were afraid of the poor quality script that would destroy the entire series. Others said that Star Wars series had their logical conclusion and it would be a mistake to create new characters and develop a new story. However, many fans had dreamt about the continuation for years. In spite of all controversies, the film appeared and broke the bank. The budget of the seventh episode is equal to 200 million dollars. The box office is more than 2 billion! As a result, The Force Awakens has become the third highest grossing film of all time. The director of the film is J. J. Abrams who is known for such successful movies as Star Trek, Star Trek into Darkness and Mission: Impossible III.
In my opinion, Abrams managed to create a worthy movie that has not spoilt the previous episodes.
The action of The Force Awakens takes place 30 years after Return of the Jedi. The main characters are Rey, Finn, Kylo Ren and of course Han Solo, Chewbacca, R2D2, C-3PO, General Leia and Luke Skywalker. The whole story whirls around a droid BB-8 that possesses a notable map. The First Order and the New Republic are trying to catch the droid inasmuch as it provides them with many answers to the paramount questions. A young woman, Rey, who lives on Jakku finds this droid by chance and her adventures begin. She is accompanied by Finn, a former Stormtrooper, who has decided to change his life. Young people find an old rogue and contrabandist, Han Solo, and his friend, Chewbacca. They stay together in order to deliver the droid to the headquarters of the New Republic and its general, Leia. The New Republic is opposed by the New Order that revived after the collapse of the Empire. Kylo Ren plays the role of the new antagonist who resembles Darth Vader.
I want to emphasize that the cast is perfect. Although the audience treats Adam Driver controversially, I suppose that his image presents the evil commander of the First Order successfully. Daisy Ridley looks like Natali Portman in the first episodes of Star Wars. Probably the choice of this similarity has its reasons. Finally, I was glad to see such stars as Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill. Their professional play improved the total action of the film.
I enjoyed the scenes of battles with blasters and lightsabers. They looked more or less natural. Without doubt, the main characters cannot be wounded by Stormtroopers and the entire New Order. Han Solo, Rey, Finn and others cope with their enemies easily. I was surprised that such an enormous and terrifying weapon of the New Order, Starkiller, was destroyed by the troops of the New Republic without any efforts. Remember about the severe battles around the Death Star. The whole fleet hardly failed the mission of the destruction of the Death Star. Although Starkiller is much bigger, the rebels ruined it easily.
The special effects of the film are marvelous and spectacular. I appreciate the efforts of the whole staff who worked on special effects and decorations. When you watch the film, you transfer into the atmosphere of the original series of Star Wars. The director paid attention to the slightest elements such as the design of the Millennium Falcon, sounds produced by droids and landscapes of the unknown planets. At long last, you hear the traditional and canonic soundtrack of Star Wars that creates the special atmosphere of the authentic and genuine product known by several generations of its fans.
To my mind, The Force Awakens is a high-quality continuation of the well-known story. I am glad that I will see the following episodes in 2017 and 2019. The new trilogy is expected to be no less absorbing and offbeat than the previous episodes are.
