I learned to write with both hands to save

I like films that attract me into  the live of  protagonists’ and lead me subtly for a walk with them. For me, a good movie makes me forget that I am where I am, what I am doing and who I am during these two hours or so. I cry and laugh with the characters. The actors on the screen demonstrate their characters and I can not imagine them in another role. “3 Idiots” is one of the movie that did exactly this.Released in 2009, 3 Idiots is an Indian comedy-drama surrounding the lives of three College friends, Farhan, Raju and Rancho. It is loosely adapted from the novel Five Point Someone by Chetan Bhagat. The movie starts a few years after the end of the three friends graduated, but Rancho has somehow disappeared on the way. In exciting initial sequences, word emerges of Rancho’s whereabouts. Raju runs around without pants and Farhan pulls a stunt worthy of Hollywood-worthy on an airplane as they crawl around the track of his missing friend. The film then follows the three friends during their first meeting in the residences of the Imperial College of Engineering. Upon their arrival first day at the college they got them into the madness and been ragged by senior students. The film explains that each of the three studying engineering for different reasons. Farhan studying engineering to meet the wishes of his family; Raju comes from a poor family and being an engineer will pull his family out of poverty; and Rancho studies because he is passionate about engineering. This sets the stage for the plot later on. In college, they cross paths with different characters. Dean of the college, Professor Viru “virus” Sahastrabuddhe is a overachiever, he learned to write with both hands to save time, among other skills. He has his own idea of ??an perfect student.  So he regularly  patronizes students who do not meet his criteria. This comes down to most of the students at the College. Fellow student, Chatur “Silencer” Ramalingam, provides the comic element of the film. Chatur is ambitious and believes memorising engineering textbooks is the path to success. He considers himself superior to others at university and take shortcuts to convince the Dean. His efforts often make him the target of jokes and pranks among the trio, one of which earned him the nickname “Silencer”. Of course, there is no indian movie completes without romance, this is provided by the appearance of Pia, the beautiful and smart daughter of Professor “Virus” with whom Rancho falls in love. In the movie friends fondly call Rancho “Baba Ranchoddas”. Rancho not only leads his friends through the maze of India’s competitive, high-pressure, illogical and almost cruel education system but also he tutors them on several life mantras. Like, running after excellence, not success;  not to accept something blindly ; inventing and experimenting instead  of copying and cramming; and essentially following your heart’s calling if you truly want to make a difference. In the movie my most favourable quote in the movie usually spoken out by Rancho is “ALL IZ WELL”In the middle of all these, they crash a wedding, deliver a baby on a makeshift operating table, settle a bet, fall in love and have hopes and dreams broken, all in Bollywood style. The movie draws on themes of  piety, obedience, friendship and the importance of following your heart. It also pointed out that perhaps while we study, not all of us learn. The three friend live, laugh and love with each other while discovering more about themselves. As usual, there is dancing, music, drama, catchy phrase and  breathtaking scenery. The film has received praise overseas. 3 Idiots became the then highest-grossing Indian film in overseas markets, with an overseas gross of US$30.5 million (?186 crore). Its first weekend opening collection overseas was $4 million. It set record collections for Indian-produced films in territories such as the United States and Australia and United kingdom. The film’s worldwide lifetime gross was ?459.96 crore (US$88 million), making it the highest-grossing Indian film ever at the time. The film was listed in Guinness World Records for the record of highest box office film gross for a Bollywood film.Like all movies; this movie has some flaws but despite it flaws “3 Idiots” conveys a powerful message about how valuable your friends can be when they push you toward reaching your own highest potential. The movie ends with several twists and leaves you inspired to take a closer look at your life. The message I get from this is  “Live life, love life, and above all, don’t forget to laugh along the way”!
